Position Summary
The Automotive Sales Consultant is responsible for assisting customers throughout the vehicle purchasing process by identifying customer needs, demonstrating vehicles, conducting test drives, presenting financing options, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This position requires strong communication, relationship-building, and sales skills to achieve individual and dealership sales goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a professional and friendly manner.
- Build rapport and identify customer vehicle needs and preferences.
- Explain vehicle features, benefits, specifications, and available technology.
- Conduct vehicle walk-arounds and test drives.
- Present pricing, product options, and purchase proposals.
- Maintain knowledge of all new and pre-owned vehicle inventory.
- Follow up with leads generated through phone, internet, referrals, and showroom traffic.
- Utilize CRM systems to document customer interactions and maintain accurate records.
- Work closely with management and the finance department to finalize vehicle sales.
- Meet or exceed monthly sales, gross profit, and customer satisfaction objectives.
- Deliver sold vehicles and review vehicle features and technology with customers.
- Prospect for new business through networking, community involvement, and customer referrals.
- Maintain compliance with all dealership policies, manufacturer standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in sales meetings, training programs, and dealership events.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
Qualifications
- Previous automotive sales experience preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build relationships and earn customer trust.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn dealership software systems.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently standing, walking, and moving throughout the dealership and vehicle lot.
- Ability to enter and exit vehicles repeatedly throughout the day.
- Occasionally bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Ability to drive vehicles safely during demonstrations and test drives.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
