Job Summary The Automotive Service Manager oversees all daily operations of our independent mechanical shop. You will lead our technicians and service advisors, optimize shop workflow, and ensure high quality standards. Your leadership will directly drive shop profitability and long-term customer loyalty. Every day is different here at Zerby Automotive! Customer service is our top priority! You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including overseeing service advisors, addressing customer inquiries, and managing required documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Shop Crew: Manage, schedule, and support service advisors and technicians to keep bays running efficiently. Mentor employees on best practices for improving sales and customer service techniques.
Manage Workflow: Oversee the daily schedule to maximize technician efficiency and minimize vehicle turnaround time.
Customer Relations: Handle service consultations, provide transparent explanations of repairs, and quickly resolve customer concerns.
Parts & Inventory: Build relationships with local parts vendors to ensure fast sourcing and competitive pricing and making sure that parts are returned and defective parts are taken care of if including warranties.
Drive Local Business: Implement strategies to retain current customers and attract new independent shop clients.
Job Requirements
Experience: 2–3+ years managing an independent shop environment or working as a top-performing service advisor.
Leadership Style: Hands-on approach with strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.
Operations Knowledge: Deep understanding of independent shop workflow, margin management, and local parts sourcing.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with modern shop management software and digital vehicle inspection (DVI) tools.
