Ourisman Toyota of Richmond is hiring a full-time Service Technician to support safe, dependable vehicle operation through accurate diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical concerns and complete repairs to manufacturer specifications
- Perform routine services (oil and filter changes, tire rotations, brake checks, fluid inspections)
- Road-test vehicles and verify results using diagnostic equipment and technical documentation
- Document labor, parts usage, and recommended services with clear, complete repair records
- Coordinate with Service Advisors and technicians to maintain throughput and quality
- Provide occasional, professional explanations of repair needs to customers
Required qualifications and skills:
- Prior automotive technician/mechanic experience preferred
- Relevant certifications and technical training
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, shop equipment, and service manuals
- Strong problem-solving ability for complex electrical/mechanical faults
- Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting and prolonged standing
- Customer-focused communication and professionalism

A typical day begins with reviewing the service schedule, confirming repair orders, and prioritizing work based on safety, turnaround time, and parts availability. You will move between bays as jobs progress, alternating between maintenance appointments and more complex diagnostic cases. Throughout the day, you will reference manufacturer information, capture clear notes for the repair file, and align next steps with the service lane to keep customers informed. Before closeout, you will complete quality checks and ensure documentation is accurate so vehicles leave the shop ready for reliable operation.
