Automotive Service Technician

Job Description

The service technician is responsible for the proper mechanical repair of vehicles.  

1. Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of products, vehicle repairs and maintenance.
2. Perform assigned vehicle repairs and maintenance to factory and dealership standards and specifications.
3. Properly maintain tools and equipment when performing service work and follow correct safety practices.
4. Obtain approval from shop foreman whenever work cannot be performed in accordance with standards and specifications.
5. Follow dealership procedures when obtaining parts.
6. Organize work and plan for efficient moving of cars as well as obtaining parts and returning warranty parts for storage.
7. Give special attention to repair orders marked CSI or WAITING and expedite such repairs.
8. Special attention must be given to repeat repairs to ensure the problem is corrected and eliminate a future comeback.
9. Test and check all repairs as directed by the shop foreman or service manager, check and double check all comebacks.
10. Recommend needed repairs or maintenance on customer cars to the shop foreman or service advisor when appropriate.
11. Determine cause of a malfunction; use function test, test drive, or refer to test technician as necessary.
12. Provide a diagnostic estimate if necessary.
13. Assist other technicians on the job; provide technical information; ensure use of                  correct tools and equipment.
14. Assist with diagnosis of difficult and unusual malfunctions.
15. Perform requested labor operations using recommended procedures, tools, and equipment.
16. Order parts according to procedures.
17. Conduct final inspection on all vehicles.
18. Review completed repair order. Compare labor operations to parts issued.
19. Maintain vehicle service history files.
20. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or the equivalent; 

Must be knowledgeable with alignment machine, wheel balance machine, scan tools and Tesla scan tools.

ASE certification preferred.

At least two years automotive experience

Valid in-state Driver's license and clean driving record

The Technician will perform physically demanding work throughout the shift. In addition to standing for 6-8 hours and lifting up to 80 pounds.
