The ideal candidate will be eager to diagnose and facilitate automotive repairs using our automotive computer software and their electrical systems expertise. Responsibilities: • Apply a checklist-based approach to ensure a comprehensive examination of all vehicle systems, including the engine, air conditioning, transmission, and brake systems • Perform routine maintenance, as needed, like checking fluid levels, rotating tires, and oil changes • Explain automotive systems issues to customers to ensure a clear, transparent repair process • Create protocols for tracking diagnostic tests and repairs, acquiring necessary technical manuals, and more throughout our dealerships • Operate diagnostic equipment to accurately determine the cause of malfunction codes with the vehicle's integrated computer system • Perform thorough multi-point inspections on incoming used vehicles • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment • Conduct repairs and maintenance, including brakes, suspension, engine, transmission, electrical systems, and HVAC • Prepare used vehicles for resale by ensuring they meet dealership and state safety standards • Accurately document all work performed and parts used in repair orders • Collaborate with service advisors and used car managers to prioritize repairs and meet deadlines • Maintain a clean and organized work area • Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines Qualifications: • Possess a high school diploma or GED • ASE certification or comparable standard service technician credential, such as SAE, is attractive • Must have completed a post-secondary training program in automotive service technology; associate degree a plus • Stellar customer service and communications skills are mandatory • Technical school training is a plus • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an automotive technician, preferably with used vehicles • ASE certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain) • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills • Valid California driver's license and clean driving record • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment • Owning basic hand tools, the dealership or shop may provide specialty tools Compensation: $38 - $50 hourly
