Job Description

Laura Buick GMC is seeking motivated, competitive, and hardworking Technicians who take pride in their craft and are looking for industry-leading pay with unlimited earning potential.

As the #1 Buick-GMC volume dealership in the country, our service department is consistently busy, with a large and loyal customer base generating a steady flow of work. If you’re looking for a shop where you’ll never run out of hours, this is it. We offer flat-rate pay starting at $39/hour for Journeyman Technicians, increasing up to $42/hour based on training and certification levels. Our compensation package also includes Union healthcare, 401(k), and paid vacation. 

On top of base pay, technicians have the opportunity to earn significant efficiency bonuses for exceeding 100% productivity. With Illinois’ 1.5x warranty labor rate multiplier, most warranty work is highly profitable—contributing to consistently strong weekly earnings. Our shop regularly operates above 100% efficiency, creating exceptional income potential. We also provide clear advancement opportunities for those looking to grow. Through our Apprentice Program, we invest in the next generation of top technicians by offering hands-on training and a structured path to becoming a Journeyman Technician.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a working knowledge of current industry best practices in automotive repair.
• Perform thorough diagnostic procedures to accurately identify vehicle concerns and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Inspect vehicles in accordance with state emissions and safety requirements.
• Complete necessary repairs and perform test drives to verify vehicle performance and repair quality.
• Operate all automotive repair tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
• Participate in ongoing in-house training and skill development.
• Perform frequent physical tasks including walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and squatting.
• Lift and carry up to a minimum of 50 lbs as required.
• Maintain accurate, legible documentation for customer records and internal use.
• Clean and maintain work areas to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient environment.
• Remain fully compliant with all company HR trainings and policies.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2+ Years of service technician experience
• Ability to operate all auto repair tools
• Knowledge of diagnostic tools and equipment required
• Valid driver’s license
