Automotive technician

Position Summary

The Automotive Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and automotive components. The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs safely and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive mechanical and electrical issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine vehicle inspections.
• Troubleshoot vehicle systems and identify the cause of mechanical problems.
• Perform brake, suspension, steering, and drivetrain repairs.
• Perform oil changes, fluid checks, and other routine maintenance.
• Inspect vehicles for safety, quality, and proper operation.
• Remove, replace, and install automotive parts and components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely.
• Read and follow repair manuals, service information, and work instructions.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
• Work efficiently while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
• Perform other automotive and mechanical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive technician or mechanical experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Basic understanding of automotive electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move automotive parts and equipment.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced automotive or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schedule

Full-time position. Schedule and shift will be based on the specific assignment.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an automotive or manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to noise, grease, oils, chemicals, tools, and equipment. Safety procedures and proper PPE must be followed at all times.
