Job Title: Automotive Technician


Job Description

The Automotive Technician will be responsible for following written and verbal test and inspection instructions, adjusting valves manually or via computer on controlled parameters, and preparing, extracting, and labeling specimens per test procedures. This role involves performing routine engine stand maintenance, engine tune-ups, fluid changes, and removal/replacement of transmissions, cylinders, heads, tires, fuel tanks, and injectors. The technician will use diagnostic tools (scanners/voltmeters) via computer to troubleshoot engine and stand performance issues, as well as perform fabrication and plumbing duties. Maintaining a clean work environment and adhering to all safety standards and regulations are essential.


Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • Ability to recognize automotive engines, fluids, and accessories, and understand their basic functions
  • Proficiency in computer use for data entry and test diagnostics
  • Ability to use and interpret engine manuals, test procedures, and schematics
  • Capability to identify poor engine/stand performance and seek necessary assistance
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds with assistance
  • Must adhere to all safety requirements and practices
  • Ability to work in a potentially hazardous environment with high noise levels, heat, and fumes
  • Ability to perform mechanical tasks and functions as instructed
  • Work independently with limited supervision while communicating effectively with team members
  • Must be able to use hand tools and power tools
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience required


Additional Requirements

  • Steel-toe safety shoes required
  • Must be able to pass MVR driver’s license check
  • Position is considered safety-sensitive
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident


Work Schedule & Special Instructions

  • Eight-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work
  • Must be available to work different shifts as required by this 24/7 project
  • Must be able to monitor several tests concurrently
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Must wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes when required
