Job Summary
The purpose of an Automotive Technology Instructor is to prepare students for successful careers in the automotive industry by providing high-quality technical instruction, hands-on training, and professional guidance.
Job Duties:
Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in automotive systems such as:
Engine repair and performance
Braking systems
Steering and suspension
Electrical and electronic systems
HVAC systems
Automatic and manual transmissions
Instruction should align with industry standards ( ASE guidelines) and current automotive technologies.
Ensure students gain practical, real-world experience through:
Shop-based lab activities
Diagnostic procedures
Use of industry standard tools and equipment
Safety practices and OSHA compliance
Prepare students for employment by:
Teaching professionalism, work ethic, and teamwork
Emphasizing customer service skills
Preparing students for ASE certification exams
Assisting with internships, co-ops, and job placement opportunities
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in Automotive Technology or related field AND 3 years related work experience AND appropriate current certifications/licenses required for the course.
OR
a minimum of 5 years work experience in the field AND appropriate current certifications/licenses required for the course.
