General Purpose

Supports the College Mission and serves inmate students, employers, and the College community by providing quality Automotive Technology job skills training in a safe, clean environment. Maintains a positive and productive learning environment by working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty and the Utah Department of Corrections. Success of an instructor includes the ability to: collaborate, simplify, communicate, advocate, celebrate success, build trust, empower others, and improve the College community and its programs. This position is located in Salt Lake City at the Utah Department of Corrections. New hire placement in the pay range is typically below the mid-point, however will be determined commensurate with qualifications and experience. We will start reviewing applications after July 16th.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Possess all certifications as required by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) for the intended level of instruction.
  • Four (4) years related experience in the field.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and instill industry-related concepts and skills
  • Must have critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in navigating a computer and basic computer functions.
  • Ability to foster a productive learning environment.
  • Must be able to deliver instruction in a variety of methods and produce instructional outcomes.
  • Must have proven ability to lead, including the ability to act as an advocate for the College in all partnerships.
  • Must meet all Utah Department of Corrections background, security, and clearance requirements and maintain eligibility for continued access to correctional facilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Utah Department of Corrections security clearance throughout employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary training preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience and teaching credentials preferred.
