Why this role matters
- Keep mission-critical automation available by inspecting, tuning, and upgrading the Symbot Autonomous vehicle fleet and AS/RS systems.
- Safeguard people and performance—own OSHA, Symbotic, and customer safety compliance daily.
- Accelerate customer success by driving uptime, reliability, and post–go-live excellence across the installation lifecycle.
What you’ll tackle
- Diagnose and resolve complex electro-mechanical faults using schematics, wiring diagrams, and advanced test equipment.
- Calibrate, repair, replace, or modify vehicle and system components to sustain continuous operations.
- Commission new robotic vehicles with on-site teams and Control Center Operators using system software and structure induction procedures.
- Receive and validate delivered vehicles for damage, quality, and Structure Ready status.
- Execute time-bound preventive/predictive inspections and log complete service details in the CMMS (parts, labor, actions, root cause).
- Communicate production-impacting issues, recommended actions, and restoration timelines to stakeholders.
- Perform automated vehicle recovery within the Symbotic Matrix select system, including in restrictive spaces.
- Maintain work areas to 5S standards; adapt priorities quickly as site needs change.
- Other duties as assigned.
Travel
Field-based with 100% travel to Symbotic customer sites across the U.S.
What you bring
- Associate degree or equivalent experience/certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or similar (preferred).
- 5+ years in mechanical automation systems.
- High-level robotic troubleshooting (programming a plus); strong electro-mechanical aptitude.
- Fluent with electrical schematics/wiring diagrams; confident in electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Proficient in inspection processes; able to work independently from procedures and manuals.
- Experience training peers; capable of representing Field Service remotely without direct supervision.
- Team leadership and delegation skills; comfortable stepping beyond typical scope as operations dictate.
- Ability to multitask; excellent English written and verbal communication.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to drive and fly as needed.
Where you’ll work & physical expectations
- Remote, field-based role; travel up to 100%.
- Frequent walking and reaching; work at heights up to 45 feet and in 24-inch restrictive areas; standing; climbing/balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Comply with Lockout/Tagout and fall protection safety requirements.
- Approx. 75% of time on construction sites; PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, fall protection such as a harness).
- Climb steep stairs; frequent stair use to navigate the structure; work near elevated railings.
- Environment protected from weather but not temperature; operate between 105° and 32° Fahrenheit.
Compensation & benefits
Base salary range: $71,000.00 - $97,900.00, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO, and other offerings.
