Job Description

Autonomous Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Vero Beach & Port St. Lucie, Florida

We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and autonomous Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our growing outpatient healthcare practice with primary locations serving the Vero Beach and Port St. Lucie areas.

This position is primarily focused on comprehensive primary care and preventive medicine, with the opportunity to incorporate additional services in orthopedic and musculoskeletal care, women's health, pelvic health, regenerative medicine, and medical aesthetics based on the provider's experience, interests, and qualifications.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Nurse Practitioner who is comfortable practicing with a high degree of independence, managing their own patient panel, making clinical decisions, and providing comprehensive care across the lifespan. We are looking for someone who wants to become an integral part of a growing practice and has an entrepreneurial mindset toward building long-term patient relationships and developing their own patient base.

Primary Role: Autonomous Primary Care Provider

The primary responsibility of this position is to function as an Autonomous Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, providing comprehensive outpatient medical care to established and new patients.

Primary Care Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive new-patient and established-patient evaluations.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient's medical history, clinical presentation, and goals.
  • Provide preventive healthcare and routine health maintenance.
  • Conduct annual physical examinations and wellness visits.
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on appropriate laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, and other medical studies.
  • Manage common chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity, thyroid disorders, and other primary-care conditions.
  • Evaluate and treat common acute illnesses and minor injuries.
  • Perform medication management, including prescribing, adjusting, and monitoring medications within the provider's scope of practice.
  • Provide appropriate referrals to specialists and coordinate care when necessary.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Provide patient education regarding nutrition, exercise, lifestyle modification, disease prevention, and overall wellness.
  • Establish long-term relationships with patients and serve as a consistent point of contact for their healthcare needs.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up and continuity of care.
  • Recognize conditions requiring higher levels of care and appropriately refer or direct patients to emergency or specialty services when indicated.
Autonomous Clinical Practice

The successful candidate should be comfortable functioning as an independent and autonomous healthcare provider within the scope of their Florida licensure, certification, training, and applicable laws and regulations.

The provider will be expected to:

  • Independently evaluate and diagnose patients.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing.
  • Manage chronic disease.
  • Treat acute and episodic medical conditions.
  • Make appropriate specialist referrals.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Exercise sound clinical judgment and recognize when consultation or referral is appropriate.
We are seeking a provider who is confident making clinical decisions independently while still valuing collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Women's Health

Women's health will remain an important component of the practice and may be incorporated into the provider's primary-care patient panel.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Routine women's health evaluations.
  • Preventive health screenings.
  • Menstrual and reproductive health management.
  • Menopause and perimenopause management.
  • Hormonal health evaluation and management.
  • Evaluation and management of common women's health conditions.
  • Sexual health counseling and appropriate treatment.
  • Postpartum and women's wellness care.
  • Coordination with gynecology and other specialists when appropriate.
Experience in women's health is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Orthopedic & Musculoskeletal Care

The practice also has a strong foundation in physical therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal care, providing an opportunity for the NP to integrate medical care with rehabilitation services.

Depending on experience and training, the provider may:

  • Evaluate common orthopedic and musculoskeletal complaints.
  • Diagnose and manage conditions involving joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissues.
  • Evaluate patients with back pain, arthritis, sports injuries, and other musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Coordinate care with physical therapists.
  • Develop integrated medical and rehabilitation treatment plans.
  • Perform or coordinate appropriate therapeutic injections when within the provider's scope, training, and privileges.
  • Evaluate patients for potential regenerative medicine treatments such as PRP when appropriately trained and credentialed.
This aspect of the position is intended to complement—not replace—the primary care role.

Medical & Aesthetic Services

For candidates with appropriate training, experience, or interest, there is also an opportunity to provide medical aesthetic services.

Potential services may include:

  • Botox and neuromodulator treatments.
  • Dermal fillers.
  • Facial rejuvenation procedures.
  • PRP treatments.
  • Microneedling.
  • Other non-surgical aesthetic procedures within the provider's training and scope of practice.
Training may be available for the right candidate who has an interest in developing this area of practice.

Patient Panel & Practice Growth

A major opportunity with this position is the ability to build and develop your own patient panel within a growing outpatient practice.

The ideal provider will be interested in developing long-term relationships with patients and helping expand access to primary care in the Vero Beach and Port St. Lucie communities.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Accepting new primary-care patients.
  • Developing and maintaining an ongoing patient panel.
  • Establishing long-term relationships with patients and families.
  • Encouraging appropriate preventive care and follow-up.
  • Participating in community outreach and practice development.
  • Helping identify opportunities to expand services based on patient needs.
  • Participating in appropriate marketing and community activities.
  • Contributing ideas for improving patient experience and practice operations.
We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the practice rather than simply fill a schedule.

Collaboration With Multidisciplinary Team

Although the position is autonomous, the provider will have access to a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with:

  • Physical therapists
  • Medical assistants
  • Other healthcare providers
  • Specialists
  • Women's health and pelvic health professionals
  • Administrative and practice leadership
The goal is to provide patients with coordinated care while allowing the NP to maintain appropriate clinical autonomy.

Documentation & Compliance

The provider will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely medical records and complying with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and professional standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Complete and accurate EHR documentation.
  • Appropriate coding and billing documentation.
  • HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Medication and prescription management.
  • Appropriate follow-up documentation.
  • Compliance with applicable Florida laws and regulations.
  • Maintaining required licenses, certifications, and continuing education.
  • Following practice policies and clinical protocols.
Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent advanced practice nursing degree.
  • Current, unrestricted Florida Nurse Practitioner license.
  • National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Appropriate certification for primary care practice, such as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or another applicable primary-care certification.
  • Appropriate controlled-substance prescribing authority and required registrations, as applicable.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently and manage a primary-care patient panel.
  • Experience providing outpatient primary care.
Preferred

  • 2–3+ years of Nurse Practitioner experience.
  • Established experience in outpatient primary care.
  • Experience managing chronic disease.
  • Experience with preventive medicine and wellness.
  • Experience with women's health.
  • Experience with orthopedic or musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Experience working alongside physical therapists or rehabilitation professionals.
  • Experience with injections or regenerative medicine.
  • Experience with aesthetic medicine, Botox, dermal fillers, or PRP.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in developing a patient panel.

  • Clinically confident and autonomous
  • Patient-centered

  • Interested in building a long-term patient panel
  • Entrepreneurial and growth-oriented
  • Collaborative without requiring constant supervision
  • Interested in comprehensive, whole-person healthcare
