This role works closely with OEM technical teams on AV specific systems including sensors, cameras, autonomous driving hardware, and software troubleshooting.

Reporting to the Service Supervisor, the Autonomous Vehicle L3 Technician provides technical mentorship to Level 2 Technicians and supports the development of maintenance procedures and best practices. This role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to solve complex, first of their kind technical challenges in an autonomous vehicle environment. Your work directly impacts fleet reliability, uptime, and the advancement of autonomous mobility technology.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and develop corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Mentor and train Level 2 Technicians on advanced technical procedures, diagnostic techniques, and best practices.
  • Support the development and refinement of maintenance SOPs, work instructions, technical bulletins, and quality standards.
  • Perform quality audits and post repair verifications for complex or critical work.
  • Document technical issues, diagnostic findings, solutions, and learnings in maintenance management systems.
  • Maintain certifications and stay current on OEM technical updates, software releases, and training programs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, technical innovation, and operational excellence programs.
  • Assist Service Supervisors and Shop Foreman with workflow planning, technical assessments, and priority escalations.

What We're Looking For:
  • 5+ years of experience as an automotive technician, with proven expertise in advanced diagnostics and complex repairs.
  • ASE Master Technician certification or equivalent required; experience with electric vehicles, ADAS, or autonomous vehicle systems strongly preferred. Deep technical knowledge of automotive electrical systems, sensors, cameras, computing hardware, vehicle networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and diagnostic protocols.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, service documentation, and software logs.
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and lead by example.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and using hand/power tools for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required for 24/7 operations.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
