TRENTON BOARD OF EDUCATION TEACHERS AVIATION & AEROSPACE TEACHER

JOB TITLE: AVIATION & AREOSPACE TEACHER REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL SUPERVISES: N/A NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Valid New Jersey Teacher of Aviation & Aerospace certification or appropriate New Jersey instructional certificate with the required endorsement, or eligibility.
3. Knowledge of aviation principles, aerospace systems, STEM instruction, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) preferred.
4. Ability to integrate technology, flight simulation, and project-based learning into classroom instruction.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Aviation & Aerospace Teacher shall:

1. Plans and implements standards-based Aviation & Aerospace instruction that meets the individual needs, abilities, and interests of all assigned students.
2. Creates and maintains a classroom and laboratory environment that is conducive to learning and promotes safe instructional practices.
3. Establishes clear instructional objectives aligned with district curriculum, Career and Technical Education standards, and industry expectations.
4. Delivers classroom, laboratory, simulation, and project-based instruction in aviation and aerospace concepts.
5. Integrates STEM concepts, engineering design, technology, and aviation industry practices into daily instruction.
6. Assesses student progress using a variety of instructional strategies and assessment methods.

7. Differentiates instruction and implements accommodations in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 Plans, and English Learner needs, as applicable.
8. Maintains accurate records of student attendance, grades, progress, and industry credential attainment.
9. Ensures that all aviation laboratories, equipment, simulators, tools, and instructional materials are maintained in a safe and operational condition.
10. Enforces district safety procedures and applicable industry safety standards during all classroom and laboratory activities.
11. Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, staff, business partners, and community organizations.
12. Supports student career exploration through industry partnerships, internships, dual enrollment opportunities, military pathways, and postsecondary planning.
13. Participates in professional development to remain current with instructional practices, emerging aviation technologies, and industry trends.
14. Assists in the selection and maintenance of instructional materials, equipment, and supplies.
15. Supports district recruitment and promotion of the Aviation & Aerospace program.
16. Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

The AVIATION & AEROSPACE TEACHER shall be employed under the following terms:

1. Work year of (10) months.

2. Salary, benefits, and leave of time as specified in the TEA Bargaining Agreement.

3. Conditions established by laws and codes of the State and policies, rules and regulations established by the Board of Education (N.J.S.A 18A:27-4 et seq.).

STATUS: Hourly Salaried X Exempt Non-Exempt X

EVALUATION The AVIATION & AEROSPACE TEACHER -shall be evaluated in accordance with Board of Education Policy.
