Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree. Six years of experience in information technology systems administration including creating, analyzing, and managing information technology systems are required. Additional related work experience in information technology systems administration including creating, analyzing, and managing information technology systems may substitute for the required college education on a year-for-year basis. Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint checks, employment verification and such other procedures as may be mandated by federal law. The security clearance required by the federal law is a continuing condition of employment.

The Aviation IT Senior Systems Administrator shall possess advanced technical expertise in Microsoft enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, endpoint management, database technologies, networking, and cybersecurity, with responsibility for designing, implementing, securing, and supporting the Aviation Departments enterprise technology environment. The position requires extensive experience administering Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Group Policy, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Microsoft 365, and enterprise endpoint management solutions. The incumbent must have strong knowledge of mobile device management (MDM/MAM), secure remote access technologies, VPN connectivity, and enterprise mobility to support local, remote, and mobile users while ensuring compliance with organizational security standards. The position also requires advanced proficiency in the administration, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise network services, including LAN, VLAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and network security, while working collaboratively with network engineering staff to maintain a secure, highly available, and resilient technology infrastructure. The Senior Systems Administrator will provide Level III technical support for complex infrastructure, server, network, security, endpoint, and Microsoft platform issues; administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, performance monitoring, maintenance, backup and recovery, security, and basic database troubleshooting in support of enterprise applications; assist in implementing cybersecurity strategies, vulnerability remediation, and device compliance; evaluate emerging technologies; maintain comprehensive technical documentation; coordinate with vendors and technical teams; and provide technical leadership and guidance to desktop support personnel. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, extensive experience in enterprise Microsoft cloud and hybrid environments, Microsoft SQL Server administration, PowerShell automation, infrastructure lifecycle management, and the ability to manage complex technical projects while ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and operational reliability of enterprise systems.
