    Description

    Overview We are seeking a full‑time Aviation Programs Engineer/Manager 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting successful conception, development, and/or application of sophisticated avionics systems including support of technical system proposals and related documentation, identifying and documenting technical scope of change, and ensuring system compliance with customer requirements.Essential Functions Support OEM customer inquiries and ensures effective communication with customers and internal stakeholdersDemonstrate attention to detail and consistently maintain all work products in an organized fashionDevelop basic working knowledge of Garmin Integrated Flight Decks, Garmin aviation products, or sub-systemsDevelop basic working knowledge of standard department processes and tools while demonstrating application throughout all program life cyclesLead creation of various presentation materials to inform internal stakeholders of relevant program progress or issues with some direction or oversightAssist with evaluation/execution of technical program requirements or customer inquiriesAssist with execution of standard processes to ensure all program specific requirements are assigned, implemented, and verified to meet customer expectationsDevelop troubleshooting skills that can assist with identification and resolution of technical or programmatic issues related to active programsAssist with creation and/or review of Garmin documentation such as coordination memos or scalable product notifications to inform customers of basic technical informationMay develop project specific planning documents and provide input to cross‑functional resource plans with some direction or oversightMay monitor and maintain the program schedule including key milestones for both Garmin and applicable OEMMay lead meetings with external/internal stakeholders to track milestone progress, document actions and diligently follow through to completion with some direction or oversightMay contribute to technical roadmaps for presentation to OEM customers with some guidanceMay coordinate investigation and response of certification related questions and may assist in preparation and transmittal of any technical documentation required to supportMay contribute to the creation of technical product proposals and related documentation in response to customer request for proposal or informationMay perform integration testing of select interfaces or functionalityMay create/maintain airframe specific configuration details such as system architecture, detailed interconnect, and equipment listApply Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibit a desire to see Garmin succeedBasic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, or Physics OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledgeMust demonstrate the capability to perform basic troubleshooting & debuggingDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with othersDesired Qualifications Pilot's LicenseGarmin Integrated Flight Deck experiencePrevious work or internship experience working on consumer or aviation productsDemonstrates proficient working knowledge of Garmin Integrated Flight Decks and general knowledge of all Garmin aviation productsExperience with development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project or similarSystem safety knowledgeGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
