This role places you at the core of certified avionics system development, where technical rigor, system integration, and safety-critical performance are essential. You will work closely with internal engineering teams and customers on complex military and commercial avionics programs, contribute to certification activities, and influence technical decisions across the full system lifecycle.

As an intermediate to senior role, this position also offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers. This position reports to the Design Manager - Military FMS and does not involve direct people management. The role carries significant technical leadership responsibility.

As an Avionics System Engineer, you will be responsible for the definition, integration, verification, and certification of avionics systems within the Flight Management System FMS domain. Your scope includes:

• System requirements development • Avionics integration • Functional testing • Troubleshooting • Certification documentation • Support to program-level change management activities in both laboratory integration and flight test environments

As an Avionics System Engineer, your key responsibilities include:

• Interface with internal and external customers during the definition and implementation of avionics systems integration • Generate certification documentation demonstrating subsystem compliance with OEM certification plans • Define and develop system requirements documentation for physical and logical interfaces • Develop and execute functional test procedures for all avionics subsystems, including stress testing and out-of-bounds testing • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve avionics integration issues on integration rigs and during flight test activities • Document, track, and drive the resolution of anomalies resulting from design errors and equipment failures, and support program-level change management activities

To join our team, you must have:

• System-level knowledge of at least five (5) avionics systems, such as FMS, GNSS, HUD, EFIS, ICAAS, TAWS, TCASTransponders, VHF Communications, Navigation aircraft networks, Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA), Synthetic or Enhanced Vision Systems • Experience troubleshooting avionics systems on integration rigs and/or flight test aircraft • Strong engineering judgment with the ability to assess technical risks, costs, and benefits • Demonstrated customer focus and commitment to delivering high-quality technical solutions

To excel in this role, you must have:

• A Bachelors degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited university, preferably in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline • Possess at least 5 years of experience in the design and development of aviation electronic systems, software, and/or hardware within a certified or safety-critical environment • Experience with avionics system integration requirements development and functional verification • Exposure to aviation standards organizations, such as RTCA, AEEC, and SAE • Exposure to safety-of-life certification processes and regulatory authorities, including TCCA and FAA • Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams

What we offer

• Group insurance, paid at 100% • Pension plan with employer participation • Financial assistance program for studies • Free electrical terminals • On-site cafeteria at low cost • Closed during the end-of-year holidays • International-calibre company on a human scale
