Avionics Bench Assembly & Test Technician

From the first component placed to the final test pass, you’ll transform intricate parts into fully functioning aircraft instruments and avionics. Your day centers on exactness—meticulous assembly, careful measurements, and rigorous verification—to deliver innovative, reliable, high-quality products.

A day in the life

• Start at the component level: assemble highly technical electronic parts, subassemblies, and systems for avionics and instruments.
• Diagnose and refine: perform de-soldering, troubleshooting, and component replacement to resolve issues efficiently.
• Prove performance: conduct final testing across a range of aircraft instruments and avionics using electronic test equipment.
• Document thoroughly: complete shop and manufacturing order records and submit required reports.
• Build to print: read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, procedures, and technical manuals to ensure perfect fit and function.

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two-year electronics degree or equivalent education, training, and work experience.
• At least one year of assembly experience with avionic equipment such as pressure gauges, batteries, and inverters.
• Skill with hand tools and electronic testing equipment.
• Demonstrated understanding of advanced analog and digital electronics.
• Sharp attention to detail; organized, focused, and results-driven.
• Problem-solving mindset with strong critical thinking and prioritization skills.
• Clear verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

Bonus skills (training available)

• Proficiency with PCB soldering—if you’re not there yet, we’ll provide training.

Physical and work environment

• Repetitive tasks requiring excellent hand–eye coordination.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently.
• Frequent handling and manipulation of small components.
• Regular use of precision tools such as screwdrivers, tweezers, and wire cutters.
