Key job responsibilities - Lead the mechanical avionics team to efficiently develop cost effect and reliable electronic systems. - Apply extensive knowledge and experience to ensure avionics systems survive lifetime requirements in application environments. - Optimizing design for performance vs costs (manufacture, assembly, test, materials, mass, & thermal performance to meet lifetime reliability). - Preparation and compilation of design review materials for design review gates. - Hire and develop requisite talent to ensure the team can meet Kuiper's demand. About the team The avionics team within the mechanical engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and production of electronic enclosures and components. The team works closely with the electrical and RF groups to guide PCBA layouts to ensure reliability and survivability. It is the ultimate responsibility of the mechanical avionics group to ensure the enclosure level system survives the mission duration and environments. Basic Qualifications - 7+ years of new hardware products development experience - 7+ years of engineering team management experience - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field - Experience in engineering team management - Experience in new hardware product development - Experience in DFx (cost, test, manufacturing) - Experience with the project management of technical projects Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or a related field - Knowledge of AWS or cloud technologies - Experience developing products for large volume production - Experience managing teams of 8+ engineers Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
