MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Avionics Project Engineer to join our team in Centennial, CO.

The Avionics Project Engineer will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to support United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) launch services for SYD80 missions, to include providing launch vehicle avionics design and test expertise, supporting hardware manufacturing and quality assurance, and providing mission assurance support to the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Vulcan rocket.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing launch vehicle (LV) systems engineering and avionics expertise at our Centennial, CO offices across design, test, manufacturing, and launch operations, leveraging comprehensive knowledge of LV systems including solid rocket motors, liquid propellant engines, structures, and ground support equipment.

  • Coordinating with multi-disciplinary technical teams to plan, participate in, and lead Engineering Review Boards while preparing status and readiness review packages, risk assessments, and technical recommendations directly for the Space Force customer.

  • Performing core systems engineering functions such as requirements definition, pedigree, hardware acceptance, verification, and post-flight analyses, with a proven ability to assess design drawings and execute design, pre/post-test, procedure, and failure reviews.

  • Preparing the customer team for and directly supporting rehearsals, design processing, integration, testing, and launch operations, including the technical anomaly resolution process.

  • Collaborating effectively across multi-disciplinary environments to manage technical and engineering data alongside the USSF, NASA, NRO, Launch Vehicle Contractors (LVCs), launch sites, production factories, and the Aerospace Corporation.

  • Serve as an authority in your technical specialization to support USSF customers in preparing for and executing Chief Engineer briefings and Weekly Status Reviews.

  • Ability to travel frequently within CONUS to manufacturing facilities and launch sites to support critical program meetings and launch operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another STEM field.

  • 12+ years of systems engineering, technical program management, or related experience, with at least 3 years focused on space systems project engineering (such as SSC SYD80, Launch/Range, DoD, NASA, or industry equivalents).

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of Atlas, Delta, and/or Vulcan system design, manufacture, test, and operations, alongside experience with USSF, NRO, NASA, and launch vehicle contractors.

  • Strong independence, initiative, and proactive problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver written and verbal presentations to senior management.

  • Proficiency with agile software tools (such as Jira/Confluence), MS Office, information technology systems, and SharePoint databases.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

The projected compensation range for this position is $89,100.00-$148,200.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
