Avionics Technician

Job Summary:

\n

The Avionics Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, testing, repairing, replacing, and maintaining aircraft avionics, electrical, instrument, and wiring systems. This position performs work in accordance with applicable FAA regulations, manufacturer requirements, Sterling's Repair Station Manual, and company safety practices.

\n

\n

Duties/Responsibilities:

\n

• Troubleshoot, test, remove, repair, replace, and install aircraft avionics, electrical, instrument, and wiring systems.

\n

• Diagnose aircraft discrepancies and perform repairs efficiently using applicable technical data.

\n

• Analyze test and performance data to evaluate equipment and system operation.

\n

• Test electrical and avionics systems to verify proper operation.

\n

• Identify and request parts and materials necessary to complete assigned work.

\n

• Accurately document work performed on work orders and other required maintenance records.

\n

• Perform in-flight evaluation, troubleshooting, and adjustment of avionics and instrument systems when required.

\n

• Maintain avionics test equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition.

\n

• Perform off-site maintenance, emergency repairs, or inspections as needed.

\n

• Perform other duties as assigned.

\n

Required Skills and Qualifications:

\n

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

\n

• 3–5 years of avionics technician experience in civilian aviation preferred.

\n

• Civilian helicopter experience preferred, particularly with Airbus, Bell, Leonardo, and Sikorsky aircraft.

\n

• FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) or ASTM NCATT Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) certification preferred.

\n

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred.

\n

• Valid driver's license required.

\n

• Must possess a basic set of tools appropriate for aircraft maintenance.

\n

• Basic computer skills required.

\n

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

\n

• Must successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.

\n

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

\n

• Ability to read small print and distinguish colors.

\n

• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

\n

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and perform repetitive movements as required.

\n

\n

Work Environment:

\n

Work is primarily performed in an aircraft maintenance and hangar environment and may involve exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
