Position Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Shop Supervisor, the Avionics Technician services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft communication, navigation, and electronic systems to ensure continued airworthiness. This includes VHF communication transceivers, transponders, navigation systems, ADF receivers, electronic flight instruments, TCAS, altitude reference systems, navigation displays, and related avionics components. The Avionics Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft avionics systems in accordance with approved maintenance manuals and technical data. This position utilizes manufacturer specifications and regulatory guidance to calibrate, test, and verify system performance, returning components to service in compliance with FAA and DOT requirements.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Perform operational checks, bench testing, maintenance, and repair of aircraft electronic and electrical components. Conduct functional testing, operational checks, and leak tests on hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to verify serviceability.
- Ensure all work performed complies with customer requirements, applicable technical data, manufacturer Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), and FAA regulations.
- Utilize hand tools, test panels, and complex electronic test equipment-including IRIS 2000 systems, continuous wave and pulse generators, multi-trace oscilloscopes, frequency counters, multimeters, deviation meters, and other specialized equipment-to perform operational checks and complete assigned tasks.
- Perform calibration, repair, and replacement of system components based on test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other approved technical documentation
- Ensure all work is performed and documented in accordance with FAA regulations (Part 43/145, if applicable), Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and company procedures.
- Troubleshoot and isolate malfunctions in complex aircraft avionics systems and components.
- Read and interpret manufacturers and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and related documentation to determine proper methods for alteration or repair of aircraft electronic components.
- Communicate technical discrepancies and repair status effectively with supervisors, inspectors, and team members.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company housekeeping standards
- Ensure all work is performed and documented in accordance with FAA regulations (Part 43 and Part 145, as applicable), the Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and company procedures.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): RequiredAssociate's degree (two-year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Avionics Technology or related field.Experience:Minimum 12-24 months prior experience in avionics bench-level component maintenance required. FAA Airframe Certificate preferred.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of ESD handling requirements. Must be proficient in soldering through hole and SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) components.Other Requirements:Wiring harness or experience with pneumatic systems is a plus.
