This Vice President opportunity sits within the Credit Risk Management function of a leading global financial institution, covering a diverse portfolio of Latin American counterparties across corporates, financial institutions, and sovereign entities spanning multiple jurisdictions and asset classes. The role carries genuine credit authority approving and declining transactions under delegated authority, negotiating credit terms in legal documentation, and interfacing directly with senior risk committees and business units. It's an ideal fit for a seasoned credit officer with Latin American market experience who combines strong independent judgment with deep capital markets product knowledge and the ability to manage complex cross-border credit relationships in a fast-paced environment. Spanish fluency is strongly preferred;Portuguese is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide approval or declination of credit transactions for Latin American clients under delegated credit authority;recommend approval to senior risk officers where required, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and compliance with internal credit standards, policies, and procedures
Independently analyze credit risk elements across Latin American corporate, financial institution, and sovereign counterparties;identify structural weaknesses and assess transaction risks including collateral, credit enhancements, and documentation
Define and negotiate credit terms in legal documentation including ISDA/CSA, GMRA, and loan agreements to ensure proactive risk management
Assist in rating and structuring transactions to achieve optimal risk/return outcomes across the LatAm portfolio
Act as intermediary between business units and senior credit committees to facilitate credit approval and monitoring processes
Monitor individual credit and risk positions across assigned portfolios;ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
Assess the credit strength of counterparties across jurisdictions and asset classes;recommend structural enhancements to proposed transactions where necessary
Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance risk culture through strong stakeholder management and proactive problem-solving
