Responsibilities
Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking a dynamic AVP Eastern & Virtual Regions to lead field and virtual distribution across a broad and diverse Eastern footprint. This is a high-impact player‑coach leadership role for a proven distribution professional who thrives on building teams, deepening agency partnerships, and driving profitable growth.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of GUARD's go‑to‑market strategy-championing our products, expanding our regional presence, and empowering a team of high-performing Territory Managers and Virtual Territory Managers to succeed. Eastern Region Coverage:ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, NJ, NY, PA, WV, OH, KY, DE, DC, MD, VA, NC, SC, FL, GA, AL, TN, LA, MS
Provide Senior Leadership to Field and Virtual Distribution
- Lead, coach, and develop Territory Managers and Virtual Territory Managers across the Eastern Region, reinforcing accountability, performance standards, and professional growth
- Establish a consistent, scalable approach to distribution leadership aligned with enterprise priorities
- Serve as a visible leader within the organization and the agency community
Strengthen Strategic Agency Partnerships
- Build and sustain senior-level agency relationships that drive profitable, long-term growth
- Align agency strategies with GUARD's underwriting philosophy, product offerings, and market objectives
- Represent GUARD as a trusted, disciplined carrier partner in the marketplace
Drive Disciplined Sales Execution
- Oversee a structured, repeatable sales process supported by clear metrics and performance expectations
- Ensure effective deployment of tools, resources, and sales activity across the region
- Maintain alignment between distribution execution and underwriting strategy
Lead Regional Market Development
- Partner with distribution and underwriting leadership to identify growth opportunities and optimize territory alignment
- Guide regional expansion efforts through disciplined evaluation and execution
- Contribute to enterprise-level distribution planning and strategic initiatives
Leverage Market & Performance Insights
- Analyze agency performance, market trends, and competitive dynamics to inform decision-making
- Ensure regional strategies remain responsive to market conditions while maintaining underwriting discipline
- Translate data and insight into actionable, performance-driven outcomes
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing field distribution, with demonstrated success leading geographically dispersed sales teams
- Proven track record of developing, managing, and sustaining strong agency partnerships
- Solid technical knowledge of commercial insurance, including Workers' Compensation, Businessowners', Commercial Auto, and Umbrella
- Strong familiarity with the Eastern Region, including agency networks, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape
- Demonstrated sales acumen, strategic thinking, and effective people leadership skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the region by car and air
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI is a plus
- Valid driver's license
