What makes You an ideal candidate?

Knowledge and Skills

  • Accounting & Financial Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, Accounting Standards Codification, account reconciliations, and financial statements; ability to analyze monthly financial results and complex transactions.
  • Systems & Reporting Expertise: Experience with automated accounting and financial systems; proficiency with Oracle reporting tools (e.g., Discoverer), ad hoc queries, database query tools, and financial reporting tools.
  • Technical & Software Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook) and other advanced software applications.
  • Analytical & Organizational Skills: Strong analytical, detail‑oriented approach with excellent organizational, time‑management, and multi‑project management capabilities.
  • Leadership & Communication: Ability to lead, organize, and supervise; works effectively independently and in teams with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Experience & Education

  • 5-7 years of experience at a supervisory level required
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA highly preferred

About the role:

The AVP Finance is responsible for the daily direction and development of departmental personnel, of general ledger reporting, coordination and heavy involvement in monthly closing activities, fluctuation analysis, activities related to various areas of the business which may include auto receivables, securitizations, charge offs, intercompany transactions, foreign currency transactions, equity transactions, leasing and commercial lending. The AVP Finance is also the point of contact for internal departments, external parties, and internal and external auditors.

The position can be based in either Detroit or DFW (Burnett), providing some flexibility for location. Please note that regardless of where the role is based, it will require quarterly travel to the alternate site.

In this role you will:

  • Direct the prioritization of activities within the department and allocate resources as needed (including journal entries, reconciliations and reporting)
  • Support internal management reporting, SEC reporting and quarterly/ year-end audits
  • Make recommendations and implement process and procedure improvements
  • Provide guidance on the operation of various general ledger systems and monitor and resolve system issues
  • Conduct and/or participate in meetings with different teams throughout the organization to develop an understanding of projects impacting the general ledger system or treasury management system and the associated impact to the department
  • Manage and develop team members by establishing annual performance goals and assessing annual performance
  • Complete special projects and participate in system testing as needed
