Title: AVP/VP Corporate Credit Risk, Japanese Corporates

Office Status: Hybrid New York, NY

Base Salary: $138k $185k + Bonus

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a credit risk opportunity within the Corporate Credit Risk function of a leading global financial institution, focused on coverage of US subsidiaries of Japanese parent companies and broader corporate credit portfolios. The role sits in the second line of defense, providing independent review and challenge of credit applications, structuring input, and executive-level written recommendations across lending, derivatives, and related financial products. It's an ideal fit for a bilingual credit professional with strong corporate finance fundamentals who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume deal environment and can take transactions from inception to approval with confidence.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and challenge credit applications, early read memos, and ISDA agreements submitted by front office teams;prepare executive summaries and written credit recommendations for Credit Department management
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of credit risk elements for new and existing corporate transactions including obligor credit risk, financial projections, deal structure, facility terms, US regulatory classification, profitability, and relationship strategy
  • Engage with front office teams during due diligence and structuring to identify key credit risks, challenge assumptions, and improve credit application quality prior to formal submission
  • Monitor client financial performance and portfolio credit quality on an ongoing basis;promptly report key risk events including downgrades and events of default to management
  • Control the deal and credit approval process, ensuring appropriate communication with all relevant parties and adherence to credit policies and approval authorities
  • Participate in periodic borrower and sector review meetings to support front office teams in developing action plans for deteriorating credits
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff within the department;team management or leadership experience preferred
  • Handle other credit-related tasks and projects as assigned by senior management
