    Role: AWS Cloud Engineer (EKS SME)
    Location: Reston, VA (Onsite 1x per week; may increase based on project needs)
    Job Type: Contract
     
    Job Summary
    We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in infrastructure provisioning and platform engineering, specifically within AWS environments. The ideal candidate will be an SME in AWS EKS and possess hands-on experience building and provisioning new cloud-native platforms, not just migrating existing systems.
    This role requires deep technical expertise in AWS services, automation, and infrastructure provisioning, along with the ability to work in complex, enterprise-scale environments.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Design, build, and provision scalable AWS infrastructure from the ground up.
    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AWS EKS, including deployment, configuration, and operational support.
    • Develop and manage cloud-native platforms using AWS services.
    • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
    • Automate provisioning and deployment processes using Python and scripting tools.
    • Work closely with engineering teams to enable platform engineering and operational excellence.
    • Support ongoing platform operations, including troubleshooting and performance optimization.
    • Ensure infrastructure aligns with security and compliance standards, especially in regulated environments.
     
    Required Qualifications
    • 8–10 years of overall IT experience.
    • Must hold at least one AWS Certification (any valid AWS cert).
    • Strong hands-on experience in AWS infrastructure provisioning (not limited to migrations).
    • Expert-level experience with Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service).
    • Broad experience across multiple AWS services, including:
      • EC2, S3, EBS, EFS
      • IAM, VPC
      • Lambda
      • Redshift
      • EventBridge
      • SageMaker (preferred)
    • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools:
      • Terraform
      • Ansible (Playbooks)
    • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation.
    • Hands-on experience in platform engineering and infrastructure automation.
     Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in healthcare or other regulated industries.
    • Exposure to operational support of Kubernetes/EKS environments.
    • Strong understanding of cloud security and compliance frameworks.
