    Title: AWS Cloud Software Architect
    Location: Trenton, NJ (remote)

    Duration: 12 Months

    Note: Remote, must be capable of coming into office when needed (occasional) in Trenton, NJ


    Job Description
    We are looking for an AWS Cloud Software Architect to design and implement scalable, high-performance cloud-native solutions for our client's IT Application Development team. This position will be full-time, long-term contract, and remote with occasional need to commute into the office in Trenton, NJ.
    What You'll Do
    • Develop responsive and intuitive front-end applications using ReactJS with TypeScript
    • Build robust back-end services with Python and SQL Alchemy
    • Implement workflow orchestration using Temporal
    • Design and optimize database schemas and queries
    • Coordinate with the DevOps group for CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and solutions
    • Architect and deploy cloud-native solutions using AWS technologies, including ECS, RDS, ALB, Route 53, and containerization strategies
    • Design applications adhering to functional and technical programming standards
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate user requirements into design specifications
    • Develop system specifications and interfaces
    • Review and understand the Application Team's work plan
    • Provide work status updates to the senior management team
    • Detail functional and process knowledge
    • Determine time estimates and schedules for work
    • Coordinate and collaborate with software developers to ensure solutions meet business requirements
    • Identify and track issues, risks, and action items
    • Contribute to creating feature specifications and technical design blueprints
    • Build feature-focused testing, including AI-assisted unit and integration test generation
    • Contribute to user acceptance testing procedures and monitor results
    • Assist in performance and load testing procedures and issue remediation
    • Create documentation and playbooks for AWS-hosted applications supported by the client.
    • Mentor staff to gain familiarity and comfort supporting AWS cloud-native applications
    • Lead knowledge transfer sessions for staff members
    • Establish and lead AI-assisted development practices, mentoring staff on effective, responsible adoption of Claude Code / AWS Kiro across the SDLC
    Required:
    • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
    • 8+ years of experience as an Application Developer in an AWS Cloud environment, with hands-on development expertise to collaborate with vendors and mentor team members
    • 8+ years of proficiency in ReactJS front-end development
    • 8+ years of strong Python programming skills
    • 8+ years of experience with Flask web application framework
    • 8+ years of experience with containerization and microservices architecture
    • 8+ years of experience with SQL Alchemy ORM
    • 8+ years of experience with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases
    • 8+ years of understanding security best practices in cloud environments
    • 8+ years of extensive experience with AWS Cloud services (ECS, RDS, ALB, Route 53, CloudWatch, Side-car patterns)
    • 4+ years of hands-on experience using AI coding harnesses/agents preferably Claude Code or AWS Kiro with the judgment to know when to rely on AI output and when to override it
    Preferred:
    • Familiarity with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration
    • Experience as a full-stack developer with comprehensive AWS Cloud expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance applications using native AWS services and modern development frameworks
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate agentic AI development tools into team workflows establishing prompting standards, guardrails, and review practices to improve delivery velocity and code quality without compromising security or maintainability
    • Understanding of secure, responsible AI-tool usage (data handling, IP protection, and human review gates) within a regulated/public-sector environment
    Physical Demands
    • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
    • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
    • Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person
    • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
