We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Automation Engineer to design and develop cloud-based solutions and automation supporting enterprise applications and infrastructure.
This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong emphasis on AWS, Python, AWS Lambda, and Terraform. The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of AWS services with strong programming skills and can develop automation that improves how cloud infrastructure and application environments are provisioned, configured, and operated.
This individual will work closely with application development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to build scalable cloud solutions and reduce manual operational processes through automation.
Design, develop, and maintain solutions across a broad range of AWS services.
Develop cloud automation and supporting applications using Python.
Build and maintain AWS Lambda functions using Python to automate infrastructure and operational processes.
Develop event-driven AWS solutions utilizing Lambda and other native AWS services.
Use Terraform to provision and manage AWS resources supporting developed solutions.
Create and maintain reusable Terraform configurations for AWS environments.
Automate server, storage, networking, and application infrastructure provisioning.
Develop integrations between AWS services and internal applications or platforms.
Build scripts and automation utilities to simplify cloud administration and eliminate repetitive manual processes.
Troubleshoot AWS services, Lambda functions, Python applications, and infrastructure deployments.
Optimize existing cloud solutions for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Work with development teams to understand application infrastructure requirements and translate them into AWS solutions.
Develop and maintain Jenkins pipelines supporting automated deployments.
Support existing CloudFormation-based AWS deployments and assist with modernization where appropriate.
Participate in technical design discussions and recommend AWS services and architecture patterns based on application requirements.
Maintain technical documentation and contribute to cloud engineering standards and best practices.
10+ years of professional software, cloud, infrastructure, DevOps, or related engineering experience.
Extensive hands-on experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in complex enterprise environments.
Deep understanding of AWS services and the ability to determine which services are appropriate for different technical requirements.
Strong Python development experience, particularly for cloud automation and backend services.
Hands-on experience developing and maintaining AWS Lambda functions using Python.
Experience designing serverless and event-driven solutions within AWS.
Strong experience using Terraform to provision and manage AWS resources.
Experience developing and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
Experience deploying AWS resources through CloudFormation.
Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, application code, and deployment automation.
Understanding of AWS security, IAM, networking, storage, monitoring, and operational best practices.
Ability to collaborate effectively with application developers, infrastructure engineers, architects, and other technical teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
AWS Professional-level certification or equivalent hands-on expertise.
Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EC2, ECS/EKS, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Step Functions, CloudWatch, and IAM.
Experience building APIs, integrations, or backend services within AWS.
Experience developing reusable Python libraries or automation frameworks.
Experience working with large-scale enterprise AWS environments.
Experience modernizing legacy infrastructure processes through AWS-native services and automation.
Master's degree in a technology-related discipline.
The ideal candidate is an experienced AWS engineer who can code, rather than someone whose experience is limited to cloud administration or infrastructure support.
They should be comfortable receiving a technical or infrastructure requirement, identifying the appropriate AWS services, developing the necessary automation or functionality in Python and Lambda, and using Terraform to deploy the supporting AWS resources.
The strongest candidates will have experience building solutions that combine multiple AWS services and will be able to explain not only how they implemented a solution, but why they selected particular AWS services and architectural approaches.
