In this role, you will architect and manage highly available, secure, and compliant cloud infrastructure that supports mission-critical applications across the electric utility enterprise. You will be a key technical leader, responsible for infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipeline development, and adherence to strict reliability and cybersecurity standards aligned with NERC CIP, FERC, and corporate compliance frameworks.

Location: This is a remote position. The client is located in New Orleans, LA.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, install, and configure Red Hat OpenShift clusters on AWS user-provisioned infrastructure (UPI) to support enterprise-grade workloads.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure provisioning and secure application deployment across environments.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure adheres to NERC CIP, FISMA, and corporate security policies.
  • Design and maintain resilient, scalable, and cost-optimized AWS environments (VPCs, EC2, IAM, Route 53, Load Balancers, CloudWatch, S3, etc.).
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation for repeatable and auditable deployments.
  • Integrate OpenShift clusters with AWS services such as ECR, CloudWatch, S3, and Secrets Manager to enhance platform observability and performance.
  • Ensure high system availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies aligned with utility operational continuity requirements.
  • Define and enforce network and security controls, including IAM roles, encryption standards, and network segmentation for regulated environments.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, application, and security teams to modernize workloads using containerization and microservices.
  • Mentor junior engineers, champion automation, and promote best practices in infrastructure engineering.
  • Develop and maintain detailed architecture documentation, operational runbooks, and compliance evidence for audits.
  • Participate in incident response, post-mortems, and root cause analyses for platform-related events.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with 4+ years of experience in AWS infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or platform operations.
  • Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience deploying and supporting Red Hat OpenShift clusters on AWS using user-provisioned infrastructure (UPI).
  • Extensive experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or OpenShift Pipelines (Tekton).
  • Deep knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, ELB, Route 53, CloudWatch, S3, etc.) and network security architecture.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux system administration (preferably RHEL).
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration principles.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, or Go).
  • Strong understanding of compliance, security, and risk management in regulated or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, documentation, and compliance reporting.
  • Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, safety, and reliability.

Preferred Skills:

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect \u2013 Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer \u2013 Professional certification.
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP, FERC, or similar critical infrastructure cybersecurity standards.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch).
  • Experience implementing GitOps frameworks (Argo CD, FluxCD) for environment consistency.
  • Background in utility IT/OT environments, grid operations, or SCADA-adjacent systems a plus.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) a plus.
