Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced AWS Java Developer with 8–10+ years of software development experience to support application modernization and cloud transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java development, AWS cloud services, legacy application migration, database modernization, and DevOps practices. This role requires collaboration with technical and business teams to design, develop, and implement scalable cloud-native solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy Java-based cloud-native applications
- Build and manage AWS-based solutions and data platforms
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define modernization strategies and technical solutions
- Develop and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to security and coding standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and infrastructure issues
- Optimize applications for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and development teams in an Agile environment.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, and Hibernate
- 5+ years of experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue, Athena, and VPC
- Experience modernizing and migrating legacy applications to AWS cloud environments
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and database modernization strategies
- Experience with AWS ETL jobs, data pipelines, and large-scale data processing
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and automation tools
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with Power BI or AWS QuickSight
- AWS Certification(s)
- State Government experience
