" Procedures:
Thoracic Surgery Chest tube/blake drain/pigtail management experience/ ABG, NGT, G and J feeding tubes would be helpful. Seeing about 15-25 patients per shift. 25 patients is usually max. The PA locum is solo. There is a fellow that works the nights that can help when a night is busy to offload some of those patients. The Fellow is there as a resource as he is covering the ER and doing rounds and consults. The PA locum will mostly be seeing patients on the floor coming from the Step down OR (post op) or ICU. ACLS is required. There is a code team at hospital just in case. Locum may be first responder until fellow can get there. Lastly, a patient could be transferred from another hospital where the Locum would do an H&P (history and physical) and patient would be seen in the morning. The need is for maternity leave. MA maternity leave is 5-6 months.
