AZURE ADMINISTRATOR

Summary/Objective 

The Azure Administrator is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the organization's Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This role involves deploying and managing Azure resources, monitoring utilization, and automating tasks to ensure the infrastructure operates smoothly, securely, and efficiently. The administrator works closely with the Security Engineer to implement robust security measures across the environment.

Essential Functions

  • Cloud Infrastructure & Resource Management: Provision, configure, and maintain Azure resources such as virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, and networking components. 
  • Certificate Management: Responsible for ensuring SSL certificates are maintained and renewed for all Azure applications to ensure secure connectivity and service availability. 
  • Cost Management & Organic Growth: Track resource usage and costs to implement strategies that optimize resource allocation, reduce unnecessary expenses, and manage environmental scaling. 
  • Security Collaboration: Partner with the Security Engineer to implement and maintain security measures, including identity and access management through Azure Entra ID, network security controls, and data encryption. 
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Proactively track system health, performance metrics, and Azure consumption rates, and configure alerts to maintain system stability and uptime. 
  • Disaster Recovery & Data Protection: Participate in the development and review of disaster recovery and data protection plans, including Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery capabilities, and support recovery testing and validation efforts. 
  • Automation: Leverage PowerShell and Azure CLI to develop scripts and automation workflows that streamline routine tasks and enforce governance policies. 
  • Support & Migration: Diagnose and resolve complex deployment issues and perform migrations of data to the platform. 
  • Resource Governance: Create resource groups, configure access controls, and enforce governance policies to ensure compliance and cost control. 
Required Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in provisioning, configuring, and managing a wide range of Azure services. 
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud technologies, IaaS, PaaS, and complex networking. 
  • Strong background in systems administration, including experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Intune. 
  • Expertise in scripting languages (PowerShell) and command-line tools (Azure CLI) for automating Azure tasks. 
  • Proficiency with Azure monitoring, optimization tools, and performance data analysis. 
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) component support, including pools, workspaces, and application management. 
  • Certifications: Azure Administrator Associate or other relevant Azure certifications. 
 Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and Agile operational sprint cadence. 
  • Ability to self-manage workloads and maintain direct customer relationships. 
  • Experience with large-scale, complex systems and business applications design and implementation.
