Azure Analytics Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Azure Analytics Engineer to design, build, and optimize analytics solutions using data stored in a Microsoft Fabric Data Lake / OneLake environment. This role will focus on transforming raw and curated data into meaningful dashboards, reports, semantic models, and business insights that support decision-making across the organization.

The ideal candidate understands how to work with data in Microsoft Fabric, build analytical datasets from lakehouse and warehouse structures, and create scalable reporting solutions using tools such as Power BI, SQL, Fabric notebooks, and semantic models. This person should be comfortable bridging the gap between raw data and executive-ready analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics Development

• Design and build analytics solutions from data housed in Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, and OneLake.
• Develop reports, dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs that provide clear business insight and operational visibility.
• Create and maintain Power BI datasets, semantic models, and data models optimized for analytics performance and usability.
• Build reusable reporting layers that support self-service analytics and executive reporting.

Data Modeling & Transformation

• Translate raw and curated data from the Fabric data lake into analytics-ready structures.
• Develop logic for calculated measures, aggregations, and business rules using SQL, DAX, and related tools.
• Create dimensional models, star schemas, and subject-area reporting datasets where appropriate.
• Work with engineering teams to ensure source data is structured properly for analytics use cases.

Microsoft Fabric Analytics Enablement

• Use Microsoft Fabric components such as Lakehouse, Warehouse, Notebooks, Pipelines, and Semantic Models to support reporting and analytics use cases.
• Query and validate data in Fabric to ensure completeness, consistency, and readiness for downstream analytics.
• Support Direct Lake, Import, or other appropriate connectivity approaches for Power BI reporting.
• Help define analytics standards and best practices for Fabric-based reporting environments.

Business Collaboration

• Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and data teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical analytics solutions.
• Convert business questions into dashboards, trends, visualizations, and performance indicators.
• Present data in a way that is intuitive, actionable, and aligned to business priorities.
• Support ad hoc analysis and development of executive-facing visualizations.

Data Quality, Performance & Governance

• Validate analytics outputs against source systems and business expectations.
• Optimize report performance, dataset refreshes, and query efficiency.
• Support governance, security, and access controls for analytics content.
• Document data definitions, KPI logic, reporting assumptions, and analytics workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering, BI development, or data analytics solution development.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Azure-based analytics platforms.
• Strong experience creating analytics from data lake, lakehouse, or warehouse environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, and Semantic Models.
• Familiarity with Direct Lake architecture and Power BI optimization in Fabric.
• Experience with Python, PySpark, or Fabric notebooks for data analysis or transformation.
• Experience supporting analytics for finance, operations, customer, or executive reporting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview or other governance/catalog tools.
• Microsoft Azure, Power BI, or Microsoft Fabric certifications.
