Azure Architect for a customer-facing, short-term consulting engagement to support
Exostar following a recent migration from on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure.
The Azure environment is currently experiencing
stability issues and outages across compute, storage, and networking layers, likely due to architectural and design gaps post-migration. The successful candidate will play a critical role in performing an in-depth assessment, identifying root causes, and leading remediation and stabilization efforts.
This role requires strong technical depth, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work directly with customer stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a customer-facing Azure Architecture lead for Exostar
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the existing Azure environment, including:
- Compute resources (VMs, scale sets, PaaS services)
- Storage architecture
- Networking (VNets, connectivity, security, routing)
- High availability, resiliency, and scalability design
- Identify root causes of outages and performance issues
- Highlight design gaps, misconfigurations, and architectural anti-patterns
- Develop and present a clear and actionable 30 / 60 / 90-day remediation and stabilization plan
- Lead and guide hands-on remediation efforts, ensuring:
- Improved reliability and performance
- Alignment with Azure best practices and Well-Architected Framework
- Collaborate with customer engineering, operations, and leadership teams
- Provide ongoing architectural guidance and best-practice recommendations
- Document findings, recommendations, and progress for executive and technical audiences
Required Skills & Qualifications- 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud architecture, or solutions engineering
- 4+ years of hands-on Azure architecture experience
- Strong expertise in:
- Azure compute, storage, and networking services
- Azure security, identity, and access management
- High availability, disaster recovery, and scalability design
- Proven experience supporting post-migration stabilization and production environments
- Deep understanding of Azure Well-Architected Framework
- Ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-layer Azure issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience working in customer-facing consulting roles
- Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives
Preferred Qualifications- Azure certifications (Architect Expert, Security Engineer, or equivalent)
- Experience with hybrid cloud or complex enterprise migrations
- Familiarity with operational monitoring, logging, and alerting in Azure
- Prior experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments
