Job Title - Azure Cloud Administration Specialist
Contract duration - 1 year
Location - New York, NY 10007
Required Hours: 35 hours/week

Job Description:
Scope of Work
  • Design and architect solutions to implement a secure, scalable, and production-ready Azure cloud environment.
  • Span multiple environments including Development, QA, UAT, Staging, and Production.
  • Ensure solutions are built in alignment with the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
  • Support structured development, automated deployment using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub, testing, and secure application releases.
  • Ensure applications are securely deployed, reliably operated, and scalable to handle public use while meeting strict government security requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design end-to-end Azure architecture across all environments, including secure network topologies.
  • Define subscription structure, resource groups, naming conventions, and tagging standards.
  • Provision and configure Azure resources such as VNets, App Services, VMs, SQL, Storage, Key Vault, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Define Azure security strategy, conduct threat modeling, and apply Zero Trust principles in alignment with DCAS and OTI Cyber GRC standards.
  • Configure Azure Entra ID integration and implement Identity and Access Management controls like RBAC, MFA, Conditional Access, and PIM.
  • Implement Azure policies and ensure compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, and related frameworks.
  • Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and perform security reviews.
  • Develop runbooks, operational documentation, and architecture diagrams, and conduct knowledge transfers.
  • Provide necessary off-hour support during production cutovers or to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues.

Mandatory Skills (Required for Consideration)

Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing Azure cloud architecture across enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of the Azure Well-Architected Framework and cloud best practices for security, scalability, resilience, and governance.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure networking components like VNets, subnets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, WAF, and private endpoints.
  • Experience with Azure infrastructure provisioning, including App Services, VMs, Storage, SQL, and Key Vault.
  • Strong expertise in Identity and Access Management utilizing Azure Entra ID, RBAC, MFA, Conditional Access, and PIM.
  • Solid understanding of Zero Trust security architecture and implementation.
  • Experience implementing Azure Policy, governance controls, and security baselines.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks including ISO 27001 and NIST.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security integration.
  • Strong documentation skills for creating architecture diagrams and runbooks.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills
  • PowerShell and Azure CLI scripting.
  • Experience with Azure Cost Management and GitHub Actions.
  • Azure Administrator Associate certification.
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
