Azure Cloud Engineer (Azure & Microsoft 365)

Location: Remote / Hybrid Tri-State area preferred

Employment Type: Contract to Hire (~6 months)

Compensation: $52-$62/hr

About the Opportunity

Our client, a rapidly growing healthcare technology organization, is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to join their Cloud Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on cloud professional who enjoys designing, building, automating, and supporting modern Microsoft cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong Azure infrastructure experience, a solid networking background, and a passion for automation. You''ll work alongside a team of cloud engineers, support analysts, and IT professionals to help maintain and enhance critical cloud services that support large-scale healthcare operations.

This role offers significant growth potential for engineers looking to advance into senior cloud engineering and cloud architecture responsibilities.

What You''ll Be Doing

Azure Infrastructure Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure
  • Manage Azure Virtual Networks (VNETs), subnets, NSGs, VPNs, and network peering
  • Administer Windows and Linux virtual machines
  • Implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions
  • Support Azure storage, monitoring, and platform services

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and Azure CLI
  • Streamline provisioning, deployment, and operational processes
  • Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
  • Reduce manual administrative effort through automation and process improvement

Operations & Support

  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and health
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Manage infrastructure-related service requests and incidents
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities and occasional after-hours support

Microsoft 365 & Endpoint Management

  • Support Microsoft 365 administration and services
  • Manage endpoint configurations through Microsoft Intune
  • Support Autopilot deployments, security baselines, and configuration profiles
  • Assist with SharePoint administration and troubleshooting
  • Support Windows 365 virtual desktop environments

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain cloud security best practices
  • Support identity and access management initiatives
  • Maintain secure configurations across Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Assist with compliance requirements within a regulated healthcare environment

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on Azure cloud engineering or administration experience

  • Strong PowerShell scripting experience

  • Proven automation experience in enterprise environments

  • Strong networking background, including:

  • TCP/IP

  • DNS

  • DHCP

  • Routing

  • VPNs

  • LAN/WAN technologies

  • Experience managing Azure Virtual Machines (Windows & Linux)

  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 environments

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Bachelor''s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates

  • Experience with Azure SQL, App Services, Key Vault, and Application Gateway

  • Azure Monitor and Log Analytics experience

  • Microsoft Intune administration experience

  • Exposure to HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, or other regulated environments

  • Microsoft certifications such as:

  • AZ-104

  • AZ-305

  • MS-102

  • Traditional/"old-school" networking experience strongly preferred
