Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Azure Cosmos DB Developer with strong expertise in designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications running on Azure Cosmos DB. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with high-availability, high-throughput, always-on enterprise applications and be comfortable working across architecture, development, performance optimization, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimize Azure Cosmos DB solutions for high-volume transactional workloads.
Develop effective data modeling and partitioning strategies based on application requirements.
Design and optimize partition keys, indexing policies, queries, and data lifecycle strategies.
Monitor and optimize RU/s consumption, throughput, latency, and database performance.
Troubleshoot production issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
Support deployments, schema evolution, capacity planning, and production incident resolution.
Design and support highly available, scalable, and resilient Cosmos DB architectures.
Implement multi-region deployment, global distribution, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies.
Work closely with application, infrastructure, DevOps, and architecture teams to integrate Cosmos DB with Azure services.
Support Change Feed processing and event-driven application patterns.
Utilize monitoring and observability tools to identify and resolve database and application performance issues.
Develop operational runbooks, technical documentation, engineering standards, and best practices.
Provide recommendations for cost optimization, scalability, reliability, and long-term platform improvements.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of software engineering and database development experience.
3+ years of hands-on Azure Cosmos DB experience in production environments.
Strong experience with:
Azure Cosmos DB data modeling
Partition key design and partitioning strategies
Query optimization and performance tuning
RU/s and throughput optimization
Indexing policies
Change Feed processing
Multi-region deployment and global distribution
High availability and disaster recovery
Monitoring and observability
Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical, always-on enterprise applications.
Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
