Our Utility Client in Poughkeepsie, NY is looking for an Azure Platform Engineer (Data & Analytics) for a 12+months Hybrid (1-2 days a week onsite role). Must be in the tristate area to be able to go onsite when needed on Wed and Thurs.

Join our team as an Azure Platform Engineer and be a key player in our mission to leverage the power of cloud technologies to support and enhance our enterprise Data and Analytics environment using Microsoft Fabric and Synapse.

What does an Azure Engineer do?

  • Design, build, and maintain the cloud infrastructure and architecture for our enterprise Data and Analytics environment using Microsoft Fabric and Synapse, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
  • Work closely with data engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand the data and analytics requirements and provide technical solutions and support.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to best practices for cloud security, governance, and compliance using Azure tools and services.
  • Configure and manage Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics to enable data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analysis at scale.
  • Administer and optimize Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure SQL Database to store and manage structured and unstructured data.
  • Integrate and automate various Azure services and APIs to enable data ingestion from various sources and formats.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the cloud infrastructure and data and analytics solutions using Azure Monitor and Azure Log Analytics
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members and cross-functional partners.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in the Azure platform and cloud domain.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to promptly address and resolve technical issues.

What does it take to be an Azure Engineer?

Required:
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, especially Azure Fabric and Synapse.
  • Proficient in cloud engineering and architecture using Azure Data Factory[Data Flows and Data Pipeline], Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and other Azure services.
  • Strong skills and familiarity with programming languages such as PowerShell, Python, or bash.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, governance, and compliance frameworks and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake concepts and architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure monitoring and troubleshooting tools, including Azure Monitor and Azure Log Analytics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize performance and scalability.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organizational priorities, technology, and processes.
  • Must be able to travel to district locations and be capable of lifting 35lbs.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are a plus.
  • Experience working with enterprise data and analytics solutions and familiarity with terminology.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, process maps, and knowledge transfer documents.
  • Experience working with regulatory compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPPA, SOX,etc.).
