Job Description

Business Analyst II
Business Analytics and Decisioning | Financial Services / Commercial Lending
Location: Sioux Falls, SD

About the Role
Our client is a growing financial services company focused on commercial lending. Its Business Analytics team needs an experienced analyst who is ready to own their work from start to finish.
Along with reporting and analysis, you will be responsible for changes made inside the company's decision engine, the business rules platform that drives A/B tests, credit risk strategy, and account management actions. You will configure those changes, test them before they go live, watch how they perform afterward, and document each step. You will work with a good deal of independence and be the person stakeholders rely on to get rule changes right.

What You Will Do
  • Configure approved changes in the decisioning platform, including A/B tests, risk strategy adjustments, and account management actions.
  • Test and validate each change before release to confirm the logic works and the business impact matches what was intended.
  • Track changes after deployment, catch unexpected outcomes or errors, and either fix them or raise them fast.
  • Keep clear records of requirements, test results, deployment, and post-launch monitoring that follow the company's approval and change control process.
Reporting and Analysis
  • Maintain and improve recurring reports covering key business metrics and department performance.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests and turn the results into findings stakeholders can act on.
  • Analyze A/B test outcomes and other business changes to show what impact they had.
  • Spot trends, variances, and emerging performance problems, and bring them to the right people.
Working with the Business
  • Meet with stakeholders to scope business questions, reporting needs, and requested rule changes.
  • Explain analysis, test results, and the effect of decision engine changes in terms any audience can follow.
  • Coordinate with analytics teammates and other departments so reports stay accurate and changes roll out cleanly.
  • Manage your own workload and keep leadership updated on progress, risks, and concerns.
Data Quality
  • Run quality checks and dig into discrepancies so the data behind reports and decision rules can be trusted.
  • Apply consistent QA habits that cut down on errors in both reporting and platform changes.
What You Bring
  • Decision engine experience (required): hands-on work in a decision management or business rules platform, such as FICO Blaze Advisor, Experian PowerCurve, Provenir, GDS Link, Zoot, InRule, Taktile, or something comparable. Be ready to name the platform(s) you have used.
  • A track record of implementing, testing, or validating rule or system changes, with specific examples you can walk through.
  • Two or more years in business analytics, data analysis, BI, reporting, or a similar analytical role.
  • Proficient SQL. You should be comfortable writing your own queries without hand-holding.
  • Working familiarity with Python or another language used for analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, or a similar visualization tool.
  • Practical experience with A/B testing, change monitoring, and recurring reporting.
  • Proven ability to own analytical work, manage several assignments, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, particularly when explaining system changes to non-technical people.
  • A four-year degree from an accredited institution.
Nice to Have
  • Decision engine experience in a financial services setting, especially lending.
  • Using SQL and Python together for analysis, testing, or automating repetitive work.
  • Building dashboards in Tableau or Power BI.
  • Supporting risk, credit, underwriting, account management, product, or operations strategy.
  • Background in commercial lending, fintech, banking, or credit and underwriting analytics.
  • A degree in business analytics, data analytics, statistics, economics, mathematics, data science, MIS, computer science, industrial engineering, operations research, or another quantitative discipline.
Who Does Well Here
Analysts who take ownership, use sound judgment, and don't need close direction to keep work moving. Strong fits often come from business, BI, data, risk, credit, underwriting, decision support, or performance analyst roles where they had their hands in a rules engine. Job title alone won't qualify you for this level. Direct experience making and validating changes in a decisioning platform will.
Room to Grow
The analytics team has a defined career ladder: Business Analyst I, Business Analyst II, Business Analyst III, Senior Business Analyst, and Business Analytics Lead. You will work on projects that directly shape how the company makes decisions and spend real time with leaders across multiple departments.
Work Arrangement and Other Details
  • Onsite at either the Sioux Falls or Sandy office for your first six months. After that, a hybrid schedule may be available depending on business needs, your performance, and leadership sign-off.
  • Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Expect the occasional evening or weekend when a deadline calls for it.
  • Candidates willing to relocate are welcome to apply, but the company does not offer relocation assistance.
  • You must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
