Position Summary
Busy Nephrology office looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Back Office Coordinator to support multiple departments within our medical practice. This role provides coverage where needed and ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of administrative functions, including medical records, document scanning, referrals, consults, and credentialing support. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and committed to delivering excellent patient service while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Process and maintain patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Scan and upload patient documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Coordinate and process specialty consults and patient referrals.
Track referral authorizations and ensure timely communication with providers, patients, and insurance companies.
Assist with provider credentialing and recredentialing, maintaining required documentation and deadlines.
Provide administrative support to multiple departments as needed.
Answer phones, assist patients, and respond to inquiries professionally.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient information and documentation.
Maintain organized records and follow established office procedures.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 1–2 years of medical office experience preferred.
Experience with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of medical terminology, referrals, medical records, and credentialing processes preferred.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
