Assignment Lenghth: Approximately 6-Months, possibly Longer.

DESCRIPTION
The Back Office Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting physicians and clinical staff by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care. This role primarily focuses on direct patient care in a clinical setting, including preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, and maintaining accurate medical records.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Prepare examination rooms, ensure cleanliness, and restock supplies.

  • Escort patients to exam rooms and take vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight, height).

  • Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and allergies in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

  • Assist physicians and providers with minor surgical procedures and examinations.

  • Administer injections, perform EKGs, wound care, and other clinical duties as directed by provider.

  • Perform point-of-care testing (urinalysis, glucose, pregnancy tests, etc.) and collect specimens for lab testing.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR.

  • Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and maintain infection control standards.

  • Manage patient follow-up, including returning calls, providing test results per provider instruction, and coordinating referrals or authorizations.

  • Monitor and maintain clinical supply inventory, ordering as needed.

  • Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable healthcare regulations and policies.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent preferred.

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical back office experience preferred (may vary by employer).

  • Proficient in EHR systems.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-provider clinical environment.
