Job Description

We are seeking a Backend Java Developer - Spring Boot / Microservices / API Integration to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP services, and messaging and a proven ability to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing backend applications and APIs.

Engagement Details

• Start Month: ASAP
• Onsite Expectation: Hybrid with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week
• Interview: 1-2 rounds via video. In-person may be requested.
• Approved Location: Newark, DE

Position Summary

The Backend Java Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting scalable Java-based applications and APIs. The role works closely with business stakeholders, architects, QA teams, and offshore developers to deliver high-quality solutions while ensuring application reliability, performance, and security. The developer will operate within a cross-functional Agile team to build and maintain enterprise-grade backend services, REST APIs, and batch processing applications, participating in design discussions, sprint planning, code reviews, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design, build, and support REST/SOAP APIs and integration services.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with offshore teams to provide technical guidance and resolve issues.
• Troubleshoot application defects and support production incidents.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and estimation activities.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and release activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and support artifacts.
• Ensure application performance, security, and scalability requirements are met.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Java and Object-Oriented Programming.
• Hands-on experience with Spring ecosystem: Spring Framework, Spring Boot, ORM, MVC, Integration, Batch, and Services.
• Expertise in SOA, REST/SOAP web services, and JSON/XML.
• Exposure to cloud technologies and platforms.
• Experience with source control tools such as Bitbucket/Git or Subversion (SVN).
• Experience with Maven, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and JUnit.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, specifically Cassandra.
• Experience with at least one RDBMS: Oracle or SQL Server.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and MQ messaging frameworks.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.

• Primary: Spring Boot
• Secondary: Core Java
