;Job Description:;;;;;Location:; Boston, MA;;;Hybrid:; 3 days/week in office;;;;Chewy is looking for a ;Backend ;;Software Engineer II; to join our Pet Health engineering organization and help build the future of the Chewy and SmartPak experience.;;;;In this role, you will work alongside a team of engineers from both Chewy and SmartPak on a significant integration and modernization roadmap focused on integrating fulfillment and shipping capabilities, and developing new features across the combined platforms.;;;;;About You;;;;;You are a hands-on software engineer who enjoys solving complex backend problems and building scalable applications and services. You will primarily develop within Chewy's ;Java and AWS-based technology stack;, while partnering with engineers working within SmartPak's .NET environment.;;;;;What You'll Do;;;;;Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable backend applications and services using ;Java; and modern cloud technologies;;;;Build new capabilities supporting the integration of Chewy and SmartPak platforms;;;;Develop services and APIs that connect e-commerce, catalog, fulfillment, and customer experiences;;;;Partner with engineers across Chewy and SmartPak to understand existing systems and determine long-term integration approaches;;;;Contribute to architectural and technical decisions as systems and capabilities are migrated or modernized;;;;Write high-quality, maintainable code and participate in code reviews;;;;Troubleshoot complex technical issues across distributed systems;;;;Apply DevOps and software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle;;;;Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and business partners to deliver customer-facing capabilities;;;;;;;What You'll Need;;;;;Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent years of experience;;;;4+ years of experience developing backend applications using ;Java;;;;;Experience building scalable distributed systems and microservices;;;;Experience designing and working with APIs and service-oriented architectures;;;;Hands-on experience with cloud-based applications, preferably ;AWS;;;;;Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles;;;;Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including code reviews, testing, source control, CI/CD, and production operations;;;;Ability to work effectively across teams and navigate complex technical integrations;;;;;;;Bonus;;;;;Experience with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks;;;;Experience with e-commerce, catalog, order management, or fulfillment systems;;;;Familiarity with .NET or C#;;;;Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, or distributed systems;;;;Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Terraform, or similar technologies;;;; ;; ;;;;The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.
