The Backfill Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment used in backfilling trenches, compacting soil, and supporting underground utility installation projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring trenches and work areas are restored safely and according to project specifications while maintaining production and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment including loaders, skid steers, compactors, and other machinery used for backfill operations
Backfill trenches and excavations safely and efficiently
Ensure proper compaction and grading of soil and materials
Work closely with pipe crews, operators, and supervisors to support utility installation activities
Follow grade stakes and project specifications
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform minor maintenance
Maintain clean and organized jobsite conditions
Follow OSHA and company safety procedures at all times
Assist with additional construction duties as needed
Qualifications:
Previous experience operating heavy equipment in utility or civil construction preferred
Knowledge of trench safety, soil compaction, and underground utility work
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong attention to safety and equipment operation
