The Badger Central Bookstore and Services Associate provides customer service and operational support for Amarillo College's Central Bookstore and mailroom, serving students, faculty, staff, and community members in person and through online services. Supports daily bookstore and mailroom operations, including online order fulfilment, website and product management, inventory, receiving, transferring, and shipping. Assists with bookstore events and other operational needs while maintaining a professional, service-oriented approach and ensuring accurate and timely completion of assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred: Associate's Degree.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Three (3) years in a retail or online shipping operations.

Preferred: Four (4) years in a retail or online shipping operations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and responsive customer service to students, faculty, staff, community members, and other customers utilizing bookstore, mailroom, and online services.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Central Bookstore and mailroom, including service, fulfillment, receiving, inventory, shipping, and related activities.
  • Manage online bookstore fulfillment operations, including processing orders, maintaining product listings, uploading products, and updating pricing and other website content.
  • Maintain and update the Amarillo College Bookstore website to ensure product information, pricing, and other content is accurate and current.
  • Receive, transfer, package, and ship bookstore products and other materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management for bookstore merchandise, mailroom supplies, and related materials; monitor inventory levels and assist with maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide support for bookstore events and activities, including off-campus events, as needed.
  • Develop proficiency in all facets of bookstore operations and provide cross-functional support to ensure continuity of services.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with Amarillo College personnel at all levels, community members, and management.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with appropriate discretion and professionalism.
  • Work independently while managing multiple responsibilities, priorities, and projects with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule as needed to support bookstore operations and institutional events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

Pay grade 6 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands to handle merchandise, mail, packages, and other materials. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver items weighing up to forty (40) pounds. The employee may be required to move between work areas, buildings, and off-campus locations as needed to support bookstore operations and events.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed to support bookstore operations, including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, special events, and varying hours.

Work Environment: This position operates in a retail bookstore and mailroom environment with frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, community members, vendors, and other customers. Work is performed in customer-facing retail and service areas, mailroom and inventory areas, shipping and receiving areas, and computer workstations. The position requires regular use of computers, phones, point-of-sale systems, shipping equipment, and other bookstore and mailroom equipment. The work environment may be fast-paced and involve frequent customer interactions and interruptions, requiring the employee to adjust to changing priorities and operational needs. The employee may also work independently and with limited direct supervision at times.
