Currently Hiring a dependable and hardworking Baggage Handling System Encoder / Jam Runner to join our client's team at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Pay rate is $18.56 per hour.

Shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday (OFF Thursday & Friday)– 04:00 AM to 12:30 PM (1/2 hr unpaid lunch break)

This is a physically demanding position which requires on-the-job security training and the ability to receive all applicable airport security badges.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lift and place luggage onto and off conveyor belt systems.
  • Load luggage carts as needed.
  • Transport baggage between designated airport locations.
  • Clear baggage system jams and assist in maintaining system efficiency.
  • Encode and route misread baggage to its correct destination.
  • Follow directions from Supervisors, Dispatchers, and Airline personnel during normal and irregular operations.
  • Identify and report issues that may lead to system malfunctions or operational disruptions.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assistance when needed.
  • Perform light cleaning and maintenance duties within the work area.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and airport personnel.
  • Ability to consistently lift and carry up to 50 pounds throughout the entire shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach for extended periods during the shift.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced airport environment.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and all required background checks.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain all airport security clearances and badges.
  • Must be able to complete all required training, including airport security and compliance training.

 

Security Requirements

Candidates must be able to pass a TSA-required background investigation and participate in ongoing drug screening as required by airport and company policies.

The TSA background investigation includes a review of criminal history and other disqualifying factors in accordance with federal aviation security regulations.
