Bagger/Packager

Job Summary: Uses extreme bagger machine or manually bags rugs and places rugs in cages or on pallets.

Automatic Bagging of Rugs Using Extreme Bagger and Heat Shrink Oven

Duties and Responsibilities:

1)     Communicates with the Cutter and other line workers to ensure that rugs are being packaged according to the job card.

2)     Monitors heat shrink for proper function and replace as needed.

3)     Ensures that rugs are tipped correctly into cages.

4)     Calibrate the Metal detector at the start of each shift using the 9-point method.

5)     Communicates with the line forklift operator when an empty cage is needed and when more pallets are needed.

6)     Labels boxes and bags if required

7)     Other duties as assigned.

Manual Bagging of Rugs (old)

Duties and Responsibilities:

1)     Pulls rug down rollers to Tipper Tie machine.

2)     Slides rug into a plastic bag and closes and clips the right end of the bag.

3)     Slides rug to right and closes clips and cuts left end of the bag and pokes a hole in the bag to let excess air escape.

4)     Visually inspects packaging for any errors or imperfections.

5)     Operator removes the rug from the conveyor and does one of the following:

a.      places the rug into cage

b.     places rug on pallets

c.      places rugs in boxes and runs thru tape machine.

6)     Communicates with the line forklift operator when an empty cage is needed and when more pallets are needed.

7)     Calibrate the Metal detector at the start of each shift using the 9-point method.

8)     Lifts, carries, and loads boxes of Tipper Tie clips.

9)     Lifts rolls of plastic bags (weighing 60lbs max.) onto racking system

10) Lifts and carries pallets

11) Retrieve cardboard to place on pallets for stacking rugs

12) Labeling boxes and bags if required

13) Other duties as assigned.

Required skills and abilities:

1)     Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.

2)     Ability to be attentive to machinery

3)     Ability to count and read

4)     Ability to come to work for each scheduled shift.

Education and experience:

1)     None required

Physical requirements:

1)     Constant standing and walking.

2)     Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach and operate machine.

3)     Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

4)     Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines and inspect product.
