Job SummaryAssists in the daily operations of the bakery department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Delivers daily conditions that meet the company's expectations for at‑shelf product availability, freshness, quality and value. Offers product samples, answers product questions and assists customers in finding or suggesting products. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled.Leadership:  20%Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job‑specific information. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.Financial:  10%Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports any discrepancies. Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action. Prepares, packages, labels, and displays products for sale. Utilizes production planning tools to accurately produce fresh products and ensures discarding or markdown processes are followed to reduce shrink. Ensures product is held at the proper temperature per food safety guidelines and retains documentation of temperature logs per policy.Compliance/Safety:  10%Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained. Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA & Country of Origin Labeling, and DOA. Executes all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner while ensuring all items are secured and removed from customer access. Reinforces safety programs by complying with procedures, inspecting and identifying unsafe conditions, reporting to store management. Notifies management of customer or employee accidents, reports risk or illegal activity, and ensures adherence to wage and hour policies. Cultivates a culture of safety and ensures Personal Protective Equipment is available and utilized. Maintains equipment in good repair and reports hazards for remediation.Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired Education:  N/APreferred Education:  High School / GEDLanguage Requirements:  English, SpanishRelevant Experience:  Supervisory Experience 0–3 years minimumEnvironmental FactorsRetail‑Bakery: The employee regularly stands or walks on various flooring, uses manual dexterity, talks, sees, hears, smells, and performs repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet. The employee frequently reaches waist level or overhead, carries, pushes, or lifts loads up to the specified weights. Occasionally sits, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and climbs up to 10 ft. Working conditions may include indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid environments. Safety risk factors include twisting back/neck, walking on slippery or cluttered surfaces, working with hazardous equipment, and exposure to sharp objects, loud noise, skin irritants, fumes, and cleaning chemicals.Overall required equipment: cleaning supplies, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, material‑handling equipment such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, and shopping carts. Department‑specific equipment: powered cutting equipment, slicers, saws, grinders, knives, ovens, stoves, rotisserie, fryers, steamers, proofer, and wrapping equipment. Preferred equipment: baler/compactor, ladder, pliers, wire cutters, box cutter. Personal protective equipment: goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, fryer gloves, oven gloves, back brace.
