Job Title: Bakery Associate/ Machine Operator

Pay: $18.50/hr

Job Description

The Bakery Associate supports high-volume bakery production in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This entry-level role focuses on assisting with the production, packaging, and quality control of baked goods while following strict food safety, sanitation, and safety standards. The position is based on a day shift schedule and requires prior experience in production, food manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the production of baked goods, including packaging, labeling, and staging finished products for distribution.

  • Follow recipes, batch instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and production schedules to maintain consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Work with and around bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, and packaging lines while adhering to safety guidelines.

  • Perform quality checks on products to ensure correct weight, accurate labeling, proper appearance, and overall product quality.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area by following established sanitation and food safety standards.

  • Load ingredients, raw materials, and packaging supplies onto production lines as needed to support continuous operations.

  • Follow all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company policies at all times.

  • Work collaboratively with team members and support others on the production floor to meet daily production and quality goals.

  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers regarding production issues, quality concerns, or equipment needs.

  • Perform repetitive tasks and manual handling safely while maintaining attention to detail throughout the shift.

Essential Skills

  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in production, food manufacturing, warehouse, or a similar environment.

  • Comfort working in fast-paced, high-volume production or bakery settings.

  • Strong understanding of basic food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness practices.

  • Ability to accurately follow instructions, SOPs, recipes, and production schedules.

  • Experience with packaging, labeling, sanitation, or general production work.

  • Ability to stand for 10-12 hours per shift.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks safely.

  • Comfort working in varying temperature environments, including warm and cooler areas.

  • Reliable attendance with a strong team-oriented mindset.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions clearly and consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in bakery, food production, or manufacturing environments preferred.

  • Experience working around or operating basic production equipment is a plus.

  • Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations such as GMP, HACCP, cleanliness, and hygiene is strongly preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on product quality, consistency, and accuracy.

  • Ability to work early morning shifts, overtime, and flexible schedules as needed.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced production setting.

  • Reliable transportation and a consistent attendance history.

  • Comfort with cleaning tasks and maintaining high sanitation standards on the production floor.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fast-paced, high-volume bakery production environment on the day shift. Work takes place on an active production floor with continuous machine and line activity, requiring constant awareness of safety and surroundings. You will stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements throughout 10-12 hour shifts, frequently lifting up to 50 lbs. The environment includes varying temperatures, with warm areas near ovens and cooler storage or staging areas. The facility operates under strict sanitation, food safety, and GMP requirements, and you will follow established hygiene and cleanliness standards at all times. The culture is highly team-oriented, with a strong focus on safety, product quality, and meeting production goals through collaboration and clear communication.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
